For those of you who are unsure as to why it’s worth going, Multiple Sclerosis is a little talked-about illness that affects the nervous system. Essentially, it’s the scarring and eventual breakdown of the central nervous system, and can strike very quickly or take years to fully appear. It’s estimated that Multiple Sclerosis currently affects up to 18,000 Australians, and there is no cure from this debilitating condition. Its main fundraiser is the MS Read-a-thon (you may even remember doing it yourself!) but this is a cause that needs as much help as we can give it.

Television fans will remember that it was the illness that affected Martin Sheen’s character President Bartlett on The West Wing. Apart from this honest depiction of the disease, it’s an illness that’s not often discussed in the media so it’s great to raise awareness in our community.
