365 things to do in Wagga # 22 – Thirsty Crow

There is an ancient Chinese story about a thirsty crow. This crow was really parched and flew about here and there trying to locate water to quench his thirst. Eventually he saw a jug with a little water in it, however the amount was so low he was unable to drink. Being crafty, he came up with an idea and began dropping stones into the jug, thus raising the level of the water allowing him to drink. With his thirst quenched he flew away happily ever after.

Now if you’re looking for a waterhole to quench your thirst, you don’t need to be as crafty as our old crow friend, you can simply make your way to the Thirsty Crow, located on Kincaid Street, Wagga Wagga.

With their 500 litre brewery on centrestage, standing proudly in full view, there is a beverage to suit all tastes. Producing six beers year round, and several seasonal brews for its 140 seat bar, it’s a premier venue in Wagga’s CBD. And for those who can’t convert to the quality craft beer on offer, there’s also a well developed wine list, locally roasted coffee and a selection of tea.

Then, when your thirst has been satisfied and you find yourself as ravenous as a racoon, there is a delectable menu with plenty to peck at. Thirsty Crow specialises in craft pizza, which are as unique as their names suggest. You could always try an ‘unemployed scarecrow’, or for the carnivores, a ‘poachers 2.0 platter’.

Antipasto platters and cheese boards are also a great choice to nibble on, and can be paired up with several of their specialty brews to provide a taste sensation, certainly something to flap about.

With fresh produce sourced locally from the Wagga Wagga community gardens, you can chow down knowing that your meal supports the local community and helps promote sustainability.

Brewery tours are held twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays at 12pm. Hosted by a brewery expert, you’ll be walked through the brewing process while sampling the end product. At $13 per person, it’s a great way to see what it’s all about.
