365 things to do in Wagga #35 – Take a train ride with the kids
If you have young children and are looking for a way to entertain them, take a ride through the Botanical Gardens with the Willans Hill Model Railway.
Children can often be heard giggling and laughing as the tunnel approaches, and tooting along when the driver blows the horn. At just $2 per ride, it’s a cheap and easy way to enjoy the day and spend some quality time with your kids.
Operated by the Wagga Wagga Society of Model Engineers, the railway incorporates 2 kilometres of track winding through the gardens, past the museum, over a bridge and through a tunnel, and is open on the first and third Sunday of the month from 10.30am.
Then when the ride is up, the fun doesn’t stop. A visit to the playground, followed by an ice-cream will ensure your kid has the ‘best day ever’, especially if you include a stop at the mini zoo, where you can handfeed the animals.
So for a cheap and easy way to spend an enjoyable day with your family, take a ride on a train – the Willans Hill Model Railway.
