365 things to do in Wagga #39 – Heli Heatwave
Playing with remote control cars and helicopters brings the kid out in all of us. There’s just something about controlling that little piece of machinery, ramming it into people, scaring the cat, chasing down the dog with the ‘copter, that lets the inner child loose. Well, maybe that’s just me, but there is a reason why kids love it so much. It’s fun, pure and simple.
The Wagga Wagga Model Aero Club takes it one step further. No playing in the street for this bunch. With their own specialised airfield – the Connorton Model Airfield – they come together to share their love and passion for flying model aircraft, some of which are more than a metre long.
Located 8km south of Wagga Wagga on the Olympic Highway, the Wagga Wagga Model Aero Club meets on Wednesdays and weekends (weather permitting). Spectators are provided with colourful air displays and pilot instruction (available by prior arrangement).
This weekend, February 24 – 26, the Model Aero Club will play host to Heli Heatwave, an annual model helicopter event of 3D action, scale displays, trade stands and unlimited information for all levels of pilots in the sport.
With international special guest Matt Botos, Heli designer, 3D pilot and owner of Synergy RC Helicopters, spectators will be wowed by his extreme flying demonstrations.
A grand raffle will also see some lucky person become owner of a Synergy E6 Kit + Hacker 580KV Turnado Motor + Main and Tail Rail Blade Set.
This fun-fly weekend will provide an outstanding display of skill and bravado, be sure not to miss out.
